Miltiadis Marinakis sends brilliant message to Nottingham Forest as Reds continue promotion charge

Miltiadis Marinakis has praised Nottingham Forest’s “superb” fan base as they backed the Reds to a fifth successive Championship win with a 2-0 loss to Birmingham City.

A crowd of 29,292 packed the City Ground as Forest promotion received a boost and it was the ninth consecutive home game in which over 27,000 fans have backed the Reds. Keinan Davis gave the Reds a brilliant start when he advanced from the left channel and passed Neil Etheridge from a tight angle.

The Villa striker on loan enjoyed celebrating in front of the traveling Blues supporters in the lower part of West Bridgford Stand. The Blues had chances to score as Kristian Pedersen, Scott Hogan and Nico Gordon all squandered good chances, but the Blues suffered a blow when goalkeeper Etheridge had to be stretchered off after colliding with Djed Spence.

Substitute keeper Connal Trueman was unable to prevent Scott McKenna from scoring a second for Forest with the defender powering a header across the line from close range. Miltiadis, son of owner Evangelos, has become well known to Forest fans for his full-time videos shared on social media and he delivered more than expected after the 2-0 win over Birmingham.

His last video was captioned with the message: “Big win and great support as always. Let’s keep going!”

Forest’s 2-0 win over Birmingham – along with results elsewhere to benefit the Reds – means Steve Cooper’s side are now third in the Championship and just six points behind second-placed Bournemouth. Both teams still have one game to play with Forest traveling to the south coast for their penultimate game of the season.
