Police serve Ukreximbank leadership without any indictment documents yet
Police have yet to serve Ukreximbank management with documents of indictment for impeding the work of journalists on the Schemes TV show.
The Ukrainian news agency learned about it from a representative of the Kiev city police.
He said the indictments will be served once the results of the investigation are available.
As the Ukrainian News Agency reported earlier, in 2019 the chairman of the board of the Kiev-based Ukrainian Import-Export Bank (Ukreximbank), Yevhen Metsger, and his wife Yuliya Metsger bought two apartments in Turkey for 3 million UAH; and in 2020 they bought an apartment in Kiev for 4.7 million UAH and an apartment in Spain for 3.6 million UAH.
It should be mentioned that the family jointly owns a lot of property.
They bought two more apartments in 2018 and one in 2009.
The Metsgers own two plots in the Kiev region and a detached house in the Makariv district.
In Spain, the family also owns a parking lot worth 305,000 UAH and a storeroom worth 58,000 UAH.
Yevhen and Yuliya also have a Range Rover (acquired in 2020) and an Audi A5 (2018).
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kiev-based Ukrainian Import-Export Bank (Ukreximbank), Yevhen Metsger, received 4.7 million UAH in salary from Ukreximbank for 2020, and 12 million UAH from ‘Ukrgasbank in 2020.
Yevhen Metsger’s statement is not available in the National Corruption Prevention Agency (NACP) system, however, his wife Yuliya submitted her statement.
According to the report, in 2020, working as a member of the supervisory board of PrivatBank, she earned almost 3.9 million UAH, or more than 300,000 UAH per month.
Her husband, Yevhen Metsger, earned 4.75 million UAH from Ukreximbank in 2020, which is more than 400,000 UAH per month.
In addition, he received a salary of 11.8 million UAH for the post of deputy chairman of the board of the Ukrgasbank.
Metsger has an account in a Spanish bank (25,000 EUR) and has 1.1 million UAH in an account with Ukreximbank.
The Metsgers have around 400,000 USD and over 260,000 EUR in cash.
In addition, Yevhen Metsger borrowed 9.3 million UAH from third parties.
Yevhen Metsger has decided to resign while an investigation into his conflict with journalists on the Schemes TV show is being investigated.
At the same time, it is noted that the further development of the situation depends only on the conclusions that will be drawn from the investigation and verification.
Representatives of Radio Liberty’s Schemes TV show restored and released a video recording of a dispute between TV show reporter Kyrylo Ovsianyi and Ukreximbank Chairman Yevhen Metsger, as well that the process of removing material from journalists on Metsger’s orders.
Pictures show reporter asking Metsger about a loan from the bank, DPR says [self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR)], and suggests that the Chairman of the Board of Directors read the documents relating to the transaction.
In response, Metsger says the matter had not been previously agreed upon, gets up and adds that he wanted to end the interview.
At the same time, the director of information security of the bank Volodymyr Pikalov said that the questions previously not agreed in the interview violate the ethics of journalists and prevent journalists from leaving the premises.
After seeing that the camera was still working, Metsger calls the bank workers and orders them to remove the journalists’ camera and erase the footage on it.
After that, the bank clerk grabs the camera.
Police have opened a file on the prevention of journalistic work by Ukreximbank employees.
