V Anantha Nageswaran takes office as new Chief Economic Advisor

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the presentation of the economic study, the government appointed Dr. V Anantha Nageswaran as Chief Economic Adviser (CEA).
In an official statement, the Ministry of Finance said on Friday that Dr Nageswaran has taken office as the new ACE.
Nageswaran succeeds Krishnamurthy Subramanian who returned to academia at the end of his three-year term in December 2021.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nageswaran worked as a writer, author, teacher and consultant. He has taught at several business schools and management institutes in India and Singapore and has published widely.
He was Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University.
Dr. Nageswaran also served as a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India from 2019 to 2021.
The CEA’s role is to advise the Minister of Finance on key policy issues, as well as being the lead author of the Economic Survey – the annual report on the economy that will be tabled in Parliament ahead of the budget on January 31 .
